Pre and post care treatment

Please follow these guidelines both before and after any treatment you have, to ensure you get the best possible result, as quickly and safely as possible.


Age Spots / Sun Damage

Pre & Post Treatment Care

  • Do not expose the skin to UV or self tan throughout the course of treatment
  • Exposure of the treatment area to direct heat or sunlight can cause burns
  • Do not use products containing retinol through your course of treatment
  • Avoid abrasive treatments for at least 1 week (peels etc)
  • No anti-inflammatory medication i.e. ibuprofen, aspirin must be taken 48 hours before treatment.
  • Always protect your skin with a broad spectrum (UVA + UVB) sunscreen SPF30+

Post Treatment Care

  • No perfumed products or cosmetics on the area for 48 hours after the treatment
  • Avoid unnecessary heating of the area for 2 weeks
  • Avoid strong chlorinated water
  • Avoid rubbing or scratching the area
  • Be gentle with your skin
  • Drink plenty of water

Facial and body Hair

Pre & Post Treatment Care

  • Do not expose the skin to UV or self tan for 2 weeks.
  • Exposure of the treatment area to direct heat or sunlight can cause burns
  • No deodorants or anti-perspirants in the treatment area
  • Do not use retinol through your course of treatment
  • Avoid unnecessary heating of the area for 2 weeks
  • Avoid strong chlorinated water
  • Do not wax, thread, sugar or use any other form of depilation
  • Avoid exercise for 48 hours as sweat glands are part of the hair follicle and sweating can lead to inflamed and infected follicles
  • Avoid tight clothing on the treatment area
  • Be gentle with your skin
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Protect your skin with a broad spectrum (UVA + UVB) sun defence SPF30+
  • In between treatments, shave or trim to manage the hair
  • If you must use cosmetics or lotions, please only use sensitive products or cosmetic cream

Post Treatment Care

  • No perfumed products or cosmetics on the area for 48 hours after the treatment
  • Avoid abrasive treatments for at least 1 week (peels etc)
  • Avoid rubbing or scratching the area
  • Keep the area clean and dry
  • Soothe the skin with Aloe Vera

  • Avoid spicy foods, saunas, steam rooms, alcohol as they would aggravate the condition

Post Treatment Care

  • No perfumed products or cosmetics on the area for 48 hours after the treatment.
  • Avoid unnecessary heating of the area for 2 weeks
  • Avoid strong chlorinated water
  • Avoid abrasive treatments for at least 1 week (peels etc)
  • Avoid rubbing or scratching the area

Skin Peels (Glycolic and Salicylic)

Pre & Post Treatment Care

  • Do not use retinol prior to treatment
  • To optimise results, consult with your skin care specialist for the appropriate SkinCeuticals home care regime

Post Treatment Care

  • Avoid excess heat and direct sun exposure for at least 2 days following treatment
  • Exposure of the treatment area to direct heat or sunlight can  cause burns

Special products to use at home
We advise using an AHA product regime 1-2 weeks before the procedure. During your course of peels and after we advice using a broad spectrum (UVA + UVB) defence every day to protect your skin, along side a vitamin C serum (prescribed to your skin).
